Pesto-Parmesan Holiday Trees

SERVINGS: 6
PREP TIME: 10 minutes
BAKE TIME: 8 minutes
TOTAL TIME: 20 minutes

  • Ingredients

1 Brooklyn Bred Traditional Pizza Crust

1 cup pesto, prepared or homemade

    3 3-inch pretzel rods

    ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Yellow, red and green bell peppers

1 tablespoon finely grated Parmesan cheese

  • Directions

    1. Place Brooklyn Bred crust on parchment paper. Spread crust with pesto sauce to cover completely. Cut crust into triangular slices, to make 6.

    2. Preheat oven to 425°F. Break pretzel rods into 2-inch pieces. With small knife, cut a small slit into each triangle, at the base. Insert a pretzel piece into slit to resemble a tree stump.

    3. Top each “tree” with shredded mozzarella. Bake “trees” about 8 minutes or until cheese is melted and crust is crisp.

    4. While “trees” are baking, prepare bell pepper stars. On cutting board, cut pieces from peppers, so that they lie flat, removing any white membrane. With very small star-shaped cutter, cut out small stars from peppers. Or, cut peppers into ½-inch squares to use to decorate trees.

    5. Remove crust from oven; decorate “trees” with bell pepper stars or pieces. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if desired.
